Note:

  • uSDX is an open source simple ham radio transceiver in SDR architecture. The uSDX project is developped by Manuel(DL2MAN) and Guido(PE2NNZ). You could see more info from https://github.com/threeme3/usdx and https://dl2man.de/sample-page/
  • The radio sold here is a cloned version of original uSDX radio
  • Do not transmit on bands other than 40m, 20m and 15m, otherwise it would damage the RF amplifier.

The Pocket-Sized uSDX is a handheld mini uSDX radio with 3 commonly used ham radio bands, 40M, 20M and 15M. Although it is a tri-bander transceiver, you could do the hardware modifications to the coils and caps in order to change it to your desired bands. The most important feature of this cloned uSDX is the size, only 8cm x 5cm x 2cm (3.14″ x 1.97″ x 0.78″), so it is ideal for SOTA or POTA operation.

The radio could be powered from 9-15V DC source, with three 3.5mm stereo sockets reserved for external connections. It is able to connect this mini uSDX radio to your computer for working FT8 or WSPR beacon with CAT control. The bootloader has been flashed into the main MCU, so for the future firmware update, a special ICSP programmer is no need. Instead, a USB to TTL module (not included) with DTR signal out is used with Xloader for firmware uploading. You can also use the Arduino IDE to comile your code and do the firmware uploading.
The radio is equipped with an on-board MIC, so for SSB operation, no need to connect an external mic although you can still use the external mic if you are not happy with the internal one. For CW operation, a CW paddle can be connected to the MIC port and you can configure it to a streight key through the menu if you like. Unlike the other cloned uSDX, a wheel rotary encoder is used here as the replacement of the normall EC-11 or EC-12. The wheel encoder is on the right edge side of the radio, which is a nice place for handy operation. Due to the size constraints, a 0.97″ 128×64 OLED is used as the main display, however, the operation experience is also straight foward as the 1602 LCD version on other uSDX clones.

The radio comes with 3 x 3.5mm plug (4-conductor), 1 x DC cable and 3 additional BS170s for backup.
